Eating better – how to stay motivated

Let’s face it, at the end of a stressful day it’s often a lot easier to reach for the crisp than the carrot, the muffin rather than the mango. Changing your eating habits can take time, particularly when things in your everyday life aren’t going to plan. But don’t give up! Give up giving up!

Instead of giving up your favourite treats, focus on proper portion sizes and healthier options. Allowing yourself a bit of what you fancy will stop cravings, helping you keep a balanced diet.

Keep a food diary

Record what you eat on a day to day basis. It will help you discover where you can make healthier changes without drastically changing your diet. You’ll eat better without even realising!

Write it down

Motivate yourself by writing down the reasons you want to improve your health. Maybe you’d like to spend more time playing with your kids or maybe you want to get healthy to improve your mood? Recommit yourself every new week, reminding yourself of these reasons.

Everybody has bad days; the best thing to do is wake up tomorrow and try again.
